Invitation to Attend “The First Ever Tanzanian Professionals Diaspora Conference 2009 On Empowerment” to be held on Friday 18th December 2009 at Golden Tulip Hotel, Dar Es Salaam
It is with great honor and respect that we write to invite you to attend The First Ever Tanzanian Professionals Diaspora Conference 2009 On Empowerment dubbed “Nyumbani Ni Nyumbani - 2009”. The Conference Theme is: Practical Enhancement of Economic Empowerment for Tanzanians. The Conference is about the issues of National interest and will attract a minimum of 100 Tanzanian Professionals from within and outside the country. In case you may not be available, you are requested to send a representative. Please confirm your attendance so that your space can be reserved and ticket provided for you.
Tanzania Professionals Network (TPN) is a Non-Governmental Organization which brings together under one umbrella Tanzanian Professionals and corporates from various industries within and outside the country to address cross-cutting issues. TPN has been registered under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Registrar of Societies under the Societies Act Cap. 337 R.E. 2002, Registration Number SO. 9746
TPN agenda is to supplement the government efforts of empowering the Tanzanians economically using the opportunities already identified by the government. The Vision of TPN is to transform Tanzania into a Knowledge Based Society. The overall mission being to stimulate and promote effective use of the Power of the Brain among Tanzanians in addressing and solving their Social, Cultural, Economical; Environmental; Developmental and Psychological Problems.
TPN and Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), Open University of Tanzania (OUT); and the University of Dar es Salaam Convocation would like to collaborate with the government of Tanzania to host the Conference aimed at promoting Diaspora interests and involvement in the development agenda of Tanzania in Collaboration with home based colleagues.
Objectives of the Conference among others are:
1. To forge partnership between the Government; Professionals, Academia, and Tanzanians in Diasporas as a forum that advocates for economic empowerment of Tanzanians with particular emphasize on “Kilimo Kwanza” which is also the current top agenda of the government.
2. To bring together Tanzanian Professionals, Diasporas, Academia, Private and Public Business Associations to discuss how to engage the Government, Local and Foreign Investors, Donors, and Financial Facilitator in supporting home-grown development as a necessary condition for building stable and sustainable economic development.
3. Promote greater trade and investment between Tanzanians and the Diaspora through joint organisation of trade and enhanced exchange of information on business and investment; to the increase in remittances from Diaspora to finance investment and development projects in our Country.
4. Promote creation of a Special Investment Bank / Fund by contributing to its share capital once established as well as to share experiences on best practices in the financing of projects.
5. Strengthen cooperation between government of Tanzania and its institutions and Professionals and those in the Diaspora. Influence the Government to create a favorable condition to attract Diaspora returns and investment in the country.
6. Tap on the skills and experiences of the Diaspora by engaging them in consultancy work, which in most cases is done by the so called international experts expensively
