Tanzanian mission buys Great Neck house
Wednesday August 17, 2011 11:59 AM By Ann Smukler
Orly Hollander of Laffey Fine Homes can now add the United Republic of Tanzania to her list of buyers. She was the listing agent on a Great Neck center hall Colonial that recently sold to the Tanzanian mission for $1.26 million, according to the Long Island Real Estate Report.
How different was the experience for Hollander? She needed the U.S. Department of State to OK it. “This is the first deal I ever did where I needed the government’s approval,” Hollander says. She adds the home is for the family of an attaché with four children.
The home has five bedrooms, four bathrooms and an open floor plan. The master bedroom has a bath with a Jacuzzi and shower. A two-car garage is attached. The deal closed at the end of June, according to public records.
The State Department statement indicated that requiring government approval is standard practice and in accordance with the Foreign Missions Act. Any foreign mission is required to obtain the U.S. Secretary of State’s approval before any acquisition, sale or disposition of real estate is completed.
The statement says there is usually no impact to a community from the presence of a diplomatic residence, and, yes, the State Department has turned down applications in the past.
By the way, the Tanzanian government will be coughing up $22,093.66 a year for property taxes (or almost 36 million Tanzanian shillings).

Mashitaka Dhidi ya Strauss-Kahn Yafutwa!
(Pichani aliyekuwa Mkuu wa IMF Dominique Strauss-Kahn akiwa mahakani New York mwezi Mei)
(Pichani Bi Nafissatou Diallo)

Updated, 4:01 p.m. Prosecutors in the office of Cyrus R. Vance Jr., the Manhattan district attorney, have filed papers requesting that all charges be dropped against Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former head of the International Monetary Fund.
The papers, known as a dismissal on recommendation, were filed at 3:20 p.m. Monday afternoon in Manhattan Supreme Court.
At about the same time, the lawyer for Nafissatou Diallo, the hotel housekeeper who accused Mr. Strauss-Kahn of sexual assault, emerged from a brief meeting with prosecutors to offer harsh criticism of Mr. Vance.
The meeting was presumably held to inform Ms. Diallo and her lawyer, Kenneth P. Thompson, of the office’s intention to drop the charges.
“The Manhattan district attorney, Cyrus Vance, has denied the right of a woman to get justice in a rape case,” Mr. Thompson said. “He has not only turned his back on this victim but he has also turned his back on the forensic, medical and other physical evidence in this case. If the Manhattan district attorney, who is elected to protect our mothers, our daughters, our sisters, our wives and our loved ones, is not going to stand up for them when they’re raped or sexually assaulted, who will?”
Ms. Diallo stood by his side, but said nothing.
Mr. Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers, William W. Taylor III and Benjamin Brafman, said in a statement:
“We have maintained from the beginning of this case that our client is innocent. We also maintained that there were many reasons to believe that Mr. Strauss-Kahn’s accuser was not credible. Mr. Strauss-Kahn and his family are grateful that the District Attorney’s office took our concerns seriously and concluded on its own that this case cannot proceed further. We look forward to attending the hearing on Tuesday.”
A chaotic scene unfolded outside the Louis J. Lefkowitz State Office Building, where the meeting between Ms. Diallo’s team and prosecutors took place, with reporters and onlookers lining both sides of Centre Street.
Ms. Diallo had not met with prosecutors in nearly a month, the last time being on July 27 when she went to their office to listen to recordings of telephone conversations she had with a man in an Arizona jail. Prosecutors have said that the recordings showed that Ms. Diallo was talking about exploiting Mr. Strauss-Kahn’s wealth. But Mr. Thompson said that his client never raised the subject of getting money from Mr. Strauss-Kahn during the conversations, in which Ms. Diallo and the man spoke in Fulani, a language of Ms. Diallo’s native Guinea.
The difference in opinion over the substance of the conversation was just one of many points of contention between Mr. Thompson and the district attorney’s office. The relationship between them has deteriorated since prosecutors said in late June that they believed Ms. Diallo had lied to them about several things in her personal life and background.
Mr. Thompson has urged prosecutors to press forward with the criminal case, arguing that physical evidence and other factors outweighed his client’s credibility problems. Ms. Diallo has said that Mr. Strauss-Kahn tried to rape her and then forced her to perform oral sex when she went to clean his suite at the Sofitel New York in mid-May.
But prosecutors have determined that Ms. Diallo had been too untruthful with them to stand up to cross examination if the case were to go to trial. She lied about her past in Guinea on her asylum application and she told prosecutors in an interview a false story about being gang raped in her native country, prosecutors have said.
In their letter to Mr. Thompson, prosecutors said that at Monday’s meeting they would explain how they would proceed at Tuesday’s hearing before Justice Michael J. Obus of State Supreme Court in Manhattan.
Several elected officials and women’s groups planned to hold rallies in front of the courthouse Monday afternoon to urge Mr. Vance to go forward with the case.
(Pichani Bi Nafissatou Diallo)

No huyo Mzee Strauss-Kahn apunguze nyege zake. Nyege ndo zimeponza!
Pole zake Bi Diallo.

Former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn will no longer face criminal charges related to allegations that he sexually assaulted a hotel housekeeper, the housekeeper's attorney said Monday after meeting with prosecutors.
A grand jury indicted Strauss-Kahn in May on charges that he sexually assaulted housekeeper Nafissatou Diallo at his luxury New York hotel suite. Strauss-Kahn's attorneys have insisted that any sexual encounter was consensual.
A judge freed Strauss-Kahn on July 1 after prosecutors learned Diallo had lied about the specifics of her whereabouts after the incident and past details of an asylum application and information on tax forms.

Baraza la Mawaziri Laihenyesha Ewura
Chanzo Habari Leo

“Katika kipindi hiki, hakuna mafuta yaliyoingia nchini kwa sababu mafuta yalikuwepo kwenye matangi ya maghala na hayakuuzwa. Sasa Mkurugenzi anatuambia mafuta haya mapya yametoka wapi?” Alihoji waziri mmoja na kuongeza;

“Katika kipindi hiki, hakuna mafuta yaliyoingia nchini kwa sababu mafuta yalikuwepo kwenye matangi ya maghala na hayakuuzwa. Sasa Mkurugenzi anatuambia mafuta haya mapya yametoka wapi?” Alihoji waziri mmoja na kuongeza;

THAI & CHINESE PEOPLE EATING A BLACK MAN. I have never seen anything like this before! The Asian appetite for "exotic" taste sometimes scare me - from stories of cat eating to dogs, to lizard, snakes to all sorts of crazy fish, then human embryos and now to fully grown humans! The photo of the person you are about to watch could have been somebody's fiance, husband or Dad! This looks too real to be true.
How I wish all black leaders watch these photos and give guidelines of who they allow to migrate into their countries. The time has come for black (Africans, American, West Indies etc) to rise and unite together against attrocities committed by foreigners on them either on their soil or abroad. Time to pray to God is now!
