ReplyDeleteRemember when Romney adviser Eric Fehrnstrom said the move from a primary to a general-election campaign is “like an Etch A Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all over again”? With the conclusion of the convention, the Romney campaign has moved into full-blown general-election mode, and the candidate’s health care comments are part of that — an appeal to independent and undecided voters, for whom insurance coverage for 20-somethings and sick people is a popular policy idea.
ReplyDeleteRomney and Ryan constantly harrass Obama for not having a plan. First of all, Obama has been as specific as possible with several detailed explanations. But Romney, who has repeatedly said he would eliminate Obamacare "on the first day" is now backing down on Obama care this weekend and both he and Ryan have repeatedly failed to present detailed plans, especially what tax loopholes for rich people they would eliminate. And, don't forget thos hidden tax returns. Flip-flopping again and evading details about any plans. This shows you just how unfit they are to lead this country.
ReplyDeleteGov. Romney is spouting nonsense when he says "... One is to make sure that those with pre-existing conditions can get coverage. Two is to assure that the marketplace allows for individuals to have policies that cover their family up to whatever age they might like."
One - There was nothing stopping health insurance companies from covering pre-existing conditions with affordable, not gouging, premiums.
Two - There as nothing stopping health insurance companies from offering extended age coverage for children on individual or group policies.
Except greed. The business model of the health insurers is to slice up the pool of potential insured into smaller and smaller groups, each of which require additional program managers and staff that result in health insurers spending 20% - 30% of the premiums to cover administrative costs while Medicare spends 3% to cover administrative costs (and does it using health insurance companies for most of the work).
Expand Absolutely, let's tally up attacks on US soil, shall we? I've only kept ones that were on US soil to keep it fair:
ReplyDeleteObama:
6/1/2009 - Little Rock, Marine Base - 1 death
9/12/2012 - Libya, US Embassy- 4
Total: 2 attacks, 5 deaths
Bush:
9/11/2001 - NYC, PA, Pentagon - 2,998
6/14/2002 - Karachi, US Consulate - 12
12/6/2004 - Jeddah, US Consulate - 5
9/13/2006 - Damascus, US Embassy - 0
1/12/2007 - Athens, US Embassy - 0
7/13/2008 - Afghanistan, US military base - 24
8/18/2008 - Afghanistan, US military base - 0
9/16/2008 - Yemen, US Embassy - 20
Total: 8 attacks, 3059 deaths
Under Bush's watch, you had a 61,180% greater chance of being killed by a terrorist. Even if you ignore 9/11 (and really, who would do that?), you had a 1,220% greater chance of being killed by a terrorist under Bush's watch.
Who's been more effective on the "war on terror"?
