“Massachusetts families and community organizations rally against construction of new $550 million dollar prisons”

June 6, 2012- Boston, MA- Nonprofit Families for Justice as Healing has partnered with Touch 106.1 FM, families of the incarcerated and other community organizations to rally against the construction of new women’s prisons in Massachusetts. The goal of this rally/ petition signing is to protest and raise public awareness of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and state legislatures’ allocation of $550 million dollars to build more jails for women and the impact on local communities.

About Families for Justice as Healing:

Families for Justice as Healing, speaks from the perspective of incarcerated women and their children. Organizing and mobilizing families of those incarcerated for drug related offenses to join the movement toward creating legislation that heals and rebuilds families and communities. F.F.J.A.H. advocates for evidence based solutions that address addiction and support basic human needs for all people and public health alternatives to the current U.S. drug policies that focus on criminalization, the war on drugs and mass incarceration.
