Yaani hawakuwa na Zimamoto ya Kutosha ya Kuzima Moto Uwanja wa Ndege! Sasa jengo lote la wanaowasili umekuwa majivu matupu! Je, Ndege ingeanguka huko?  Uwanja wa Ndege wa Nairobi ndo kubwa kuliko zote barani Afrika! Halafu tunataka kuvutia watalii!

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) -- A massive fire destroyed the arrivals hall at Kenya's main international airport early Wednesday, forcing the closure of East Africa's largest airport and the rerouting of all inbound flights.
No injuries were reported, said Michael Kamau, the cabinet secretary for transport and infrastructure.
Dark black smoke that shot skyward was visible across much of Nairobi as emergency teams battled the blaze. Passengers reported a slow response by the under-resourced fire brigade, and the blaze raged for four hours before being contained.

The fire broke out on the 15th anniversary of the U.S. Embassy bombings in Nairobi and neighboring Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, but there were no immediate signs of terrorism. Kenya's anti-terror police boss, Boniface Mwaniki, told The Associated Press that he was waiting for the fire to be put out so that he could inspect the scene before making a judgment.

"It was huge, the smoke billowing, and it didn't seem to be stopping," said Barry Fisher, who had hoped to fly to Ethiopia on Wednesday morning.

The fire gutted the international arrivals hall, where passengers pass through immigration and retrieve their luggage. The Kenya Airports Authority closed Jomo Kenyatta International Airport until further notice.
Kamau said the fire began at 5 a.m. in the immigration section of the arrivals hall. Inbound flights were diverted to the coastal city of Mombasa.

As in many countries in East Africa, public sector services like police and fire units are hobbled by small budgets and outdated or no equipment. Many of the responding units to Wednesday's fire were from private security firms.

A British passenger, Martyn Collbeck, said he was surprised that the airport wasn't shut sooner so that emergency vehicles could respond.

"When I arrived there were one or two fire engines parked outside the international arrivals. It spread very fast," said Collbeck, who had been scheduled to fly back to London on an early morning KLM flight. "There were a couple of explosions which I think were a couple of gas canisters."

"I would have expected more fire engines to respond faster," he added.

There may not have been fire engines available to respond. The country's largest newspaper, The Daily Nation, reported last month that Nairobi County doesn't have a single working fire engine, and that three fire engines were auctioned off in 2009 because the county hadn't paid a $1,000 repair bill. 

"It is a disgrace of biblical proportions that the entire Nairobi County does not have a public fire engine in working condition," the paper wrote in an editorial last month. "When (government leaders) were debating their budgets, they did not deem it fit to set aside money either to buy new ones or repair the old ones. But they did set aside money to build mansions for governors, (buy) big vehicles for county executives and other needs without a direct benefit to Kenyans."

The paper said the collapse of the fire department means responses to disasters is in the hands of private companies and the military.

The Nairobi airport is the busiest airport in East Africa, and its closure is likely to affect flights throughout the region.

Fisher, a trade specialist who lives in Nairobi, described the scene as chaotic.

"There was no one stopping any traffic going to the road to the airport," he said. "A number of fire trucks and ambulances were trying to negotiate their way through the lane. ... They were trying to weave their way through a solid two lanes of cars."

U.S. Issues Global Travel Alert!

The United States issued a global travel alert Friday, citing an al-Qaeda threat that also caused the State Department to close its embassies Sunday around the Muslim world.

The State Department warned American citizens of the potential for terrorism particularly in the Middle East and North Africa, with a possible attack occurring or coming from the Arabian Peninsula.

"Current information suggests that al-Qaeda and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks both in the region and beyond, and that they may focus efforts to conduct attacks in the period between now and the end of August," the statement said.

The alert asks American travelers to take extra precautions when traveling overseas and suggests they sign up for State Department alerts and register with consulates or embassies in the countries they are visiting.

The alert was posted a day after the US announced it would close diplomatic facilities on Sunday because of an unspecified threat. Spokeswoman Marie Harf said the department acted out of an "abundance of caution" and that some missions may stay closed for longer than a day. Sunday is a business day in Muslim countries.

JEDDAH: Saudi authorities arrested a local airport officer after social networks published a picture of the man showing him in a “rude sitting position” while checking the passports of passengers, a newspaper reported on Sunday.


The picture, which was captured by a Saudi passenger at the airport in Jeddah, showed the uniformed officer giving his back to the passengers as he sat on the desk and his legs rested on a chair.

Newspapers had earlier said the unnamed officer was suspended this week after the photograph triggered online criticism by hundreds of viewers.

“The passport officer was ordered arrested after his suspension this week ... the director of the passports department ordered his arrest for questioning about his behavior and uncivilized way of sitting,” the Arabic language daily Arar said.

A passenger plane thought to be carrying at least 140 people crashed in Lagos, Nigeria, on Sunday, emergencies officials there said.
The Dana Air flight from Abuja to Lagos crashed in a densely-populated area of Lagos, Nigeria's largest city, causing several house fires, reports said. Police told Agence France-Press that the plane crashed into a two-story building near the airport.
The exact number of passengers on the flight is unclear. The Lagos state government said 153 people were on board, but an official told the Associated Press that the plane was likely carrying between 140 and 150 people, as not all flights in Nigeria issue paper tickets and "don't record all passengers via computer."
There has not been an official report of casualties, but Harold Denuren, head of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, told London's Telegraph, "I don't believe there are any survivors."
"I can confirm that one of our planes crashed today on the outskirts of Lagos," a spokesman for Dana Air told AFP.
According to Al Jazeera, witnesses on the ground "believe it may have hit a power line" before it crashed into the building and burst into flames.
"Thick smoke rose from the area near the Lagos airport and flames could be seen coming from the building," the AFP reported. "Residents said the plane had been coming in low, making a loud noise, when it slammed into the residential area."
According to the Dana Air website, it operates several daily Lagos-Abuja and Lagos-Abuja flights using Boeing MD83 planes.
Sunday's crash comes just a day after a Boeing 727 cargo plane flying from Lagos crashed in Accra, the capital of Ghana, hitting a bus and killing at least 10.
Lagos' international airport is a major hub for West Africa, accommodating more than 2.3 million passengers in 2009, according to the AP.

ACCRA, Ghana—Officials opened an investigation into the Boeing 727 cargo plane that crashed at Ghana's international airport, killing at least 10 people after it slammed through a fence and onto a nearby street, the country's transit company said Sunday.

Doreen Owusu Fianko, chief executive of Ghana Airport Co., said the group has discounted airport-equipment failure as one of the causes of the crash. She said they were open to outside help on the investigation.

"We would not hesitate to seek external assistance to unravel the cause and to take lessons from that," she said.

Saturday's crash occurred in Accra near Kotoka International Airport, which sits near newly built high-rise buildings and hotels. Witnesses said the plane smashed through the fence that runs around the airport before hitting a bus.

Randy Banahene, a taxi driver who saw the crash, said an explosion was heard when the plane hit a wall. He said the plane landed on its belly across a road, its nose nicked and tail bent with punctures on its side, just yards from a residential neighborhood.

Families gathered at the hospital mortuary late Saturday night to identify bodies. Among them were family members of 27-year-old Castro Abuchor, who they said was riding a motorcycle when he was hit by the plane and killed.

The others were killed while riding in the minibus that was hit by the plane, officials said.
Mortuary manager Woi Boamah Mensah at the 37 Military Hospital said that eight of the 10 dead have been identified. Hospital staff had earlier said that nine of the dead were men, and one was a woman.

Ghana President John Atta Mills on Sunday visited the four plane crew members who are receiving treatment at the airport clinic after surviving the crash.
"We are grateful to all of them," Mr. Mills said at the clinic.

Dr. Nana Ako-Bruce, the medical director of the clinic, said the four crew members were Nigerian.
Billy Anaglate, spokesman for the Ghana Fire Service, said that all 10 people were killed on impact. He identified the plane as an Allied (Air) Cargo plane.

Ms. Fianko said the plane was coming from Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria, when it crashed after a failed landing attempt. She said that operations at the airport had returned to normal after the crash Saturday.

Ghana, a nation of more than 25 million in West Africa, hasn't had a major airplane crash in recent years. The last air emergency the country had was in June 2006, when a TAAG Linhas Aereas De Angola flight to Sao Tome hit birds during takeoff. The plane landed safely and none of the 28 people onboard were injured.

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi is in Tanzania, after fleeing his war ravaged country.The Libyan strongman sneaked out of his country yesterday, as his government crumbled with more dissenting ministers defecting, while the Western-supported rebel forces overcame units loyal to him.

Impeccable sources said that Col Gaddafi had escaped from Tripoli in a private jet that landed at the Julius Nyerere International Airport under the cover of darkness last night.He was soon whisked away and was spotted by our team in one of the five-star hotels in the city centre, where security cordon was immediately thrown.

With him were scores of close family members and aides, including a team of his familiar heavily armed, high-heeled female bodyguards. The embattled leader apparently violated the non-fly zone imposed by Nato over Libyan, and made his daring escape.

It wasn’t clear why he chose Tanzania for refuge, but sources in the government team assigned to him revealed that his second wife, Safia al-Gaddafi, was the one who had convinced them to seek refuge in the city popularly known as the Haven of Peace.

The family of the man who has ruled Libya with an iron grip for over 40 years felt they would be safer in Tanzania, ignoring an earlier offer of asylum by his former ally, Uganda President Yoweri Museveni.
However, Col Gaddafi was said to be somewhat unsure about how the Tanzanians would receive him.

“He was happy to hear that a mammoth demonstration in support of him and Libya was held last week in Dar, but he was also inquisitive over whether many still remembered that he sent troops to fight alongside Ugandan dictator Idi Amin during the 1978-79 Kagera War,” said an intelligence officer assigned to watch the hotel.

Col Gaddafi’s regime has come under attack from rebels and Western allies, who accuse him of turning guns on his own people after they revolted against his four-decade leadership in a fashion that has so far brought down two former presidents in North Africa, Mr Ben Ali of Tunisia and Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak.

Efforts to get a comment from the government over the unexpected arrival of the visitor and how long he would be staying in Dar es Salaam were fruitless by the time of filling this report.But we reliably learnt that an official announcement to this effect from State House could be made today, April 1.

Mnakumbuka East African Airways?




Wadau hapo zamani za kale kulikuwa na shirika la ndege East African Airlines. Ilikuwa sehemu ya East African Community. Waliokuwa wanakmiliki ni Tanzania, Kenya na Uganda.
Mwaka 1971, familia tulisafiri Mbeya hadi Dar na ndege ya East African Airways. Ilikuwa Prop Job kama ile kwenye picha ya kati kati. Tulikuwa tunatoka kijijini Manda kwa ndugu wa baba. Mkikaa kwenye kiti kama vile mnatazama hewani, halafu ilisha ruka ndo mnakuwa sawa. Ingawa nilikuwa na miaka saba nakumbuka waliwapa aibiria lunch box. Mwaka 1976 tulisafiri na ndege 727 Nairobi -Dar. Haikuwa mbaya. Pia tulisafiri na treni, lakini jamani zilikuwa safi na wenye wahudumu waliopenda kazi yao.
Nakumbuka nikiwa Form One mwaka 1977, ghafla shirika hiyo ilivunjwa. Waliokuwa na mali (treni, ndege, mabasi) kwenye nchi yao ndo ilikuwa mali yao. Wakati ule damu ulikuwa mbaya kweli kati ya WaTanzania na WaKenya.
Mwalimu shuleni alitusimulia hivi, waKenya walivizia siku ambayo ndege kubwa na nzuri zitakuwa zimetua pale Embakasi airport Nairobi, ndo wakazizoa na kuita Kenya Airways! Tanzania tuliambulia zile Fokker Friendships na ndege nyingine 737 ikawa Air Tanzania, halafu Uganda walikuwa wazembe eti walipata ndege moja tu! Ikawa Uganda Airways.
Lakini jamani nakumbuka watu walikuwa na huzuni kubwa mno jumuiya ilivyovunjika. Mbaya zaidi watu wakawa wanyama. WaTanzania walifukuzwa Kenya kama mbwa. Hasa hao waliokuwa wanafanya kazi na East African community. Wengine walirudi Tanzania kwa mguu na begi moja!

MNigeria Mgaidi!


Bila shaka mmesikia habari za kijana wa KiNigeria, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, aliyejaribu kulipua ndege ikitua Detroit siku ya Krismasi. Kama angefanikiwa ingekuwa pigo kubwa.

WaNigeria na familia ya jamaa wanasema wanaona haya na jamaa amechafua jina la Nigeria! Mimi nasema kachafua jina la Afrika kwa ujumla! Lakini jamani, huyo kijana ni mtoto wa tajiri, millionea. baba yake alikuwa mkuu wa benki. Sidhani kama katika maisha yake amekuwa na uhaba wa pesa au njaa. Akitaka ananunuliwa, tena mtoto wa kiume! Lazima familia yake walimwoanesha upendeleo fulani. Halafu anaamua kufanya kitendo cha kigaidi. Kwenye taarifa ya habari wanasema Nigeria imejaa maskini na huyo kijana kweli alikuwa na maisha ya kifahari.

Inasikitisha. Ubaya zaidi kitendo chake kitafanya waNigeria na waafrika kwa ujumla kupata shida zaidi wakati wa kuomba visa za kuja Marekani. Pia watachunguzwa zaidi wakisafiri kwenye ndege.

Habari zinasema kuwa baba yake mzazi Umar, Al Haj Umaru Mutallab, alipeleka taarifa kwenye ubalozi wa Marekani huko Lagos, kuwa alikuwa na hofu kuwa mwanae ameingia kwenye kikundi cha kigaidi. Naona baba yake ni shujaa ingawa waMarekai walizembea. Lazima kilimwuma kuona mwanae anafanya maajabu, lakini aliona umuhimu wa kulinda maisha ya wengine.

Na mimi sasa nachukia kuwa kusafiri kwa ndege itazidi kuwa shida sasa. Utakaguliwa kila kona mpaka chooni sasa! Mwisho itabidi uvue mpaka chupi!

Kwanza nawashukuru kwa pongezi mlionipa katika ile makala ya libeneke la tathmini ya bei za nyumba nilipost kwa kaka Michuzi, nimepata moyo kuwa nimeandika kitu ambacho kitawasaidia wengine. Asanteni sana kwa maoni mazuri. Sasa nikija kwenye kadhia ya airport na ufisadi tanzania. Nakubaliana na baadhi ya maoni yoliyosema na wadau mbali mbali kuhusu huyo mtasha aliekutwa na mkasa airport. Binafsi, nadhani huyo mzungu alitia chumvi katika hizo allegations zake, kwa mfano polisi kumuomba dola 500, polisi wetu kwanza wanaogopa sana wazungu na wageni wengine matokeo yake wanaishia kutuumiza wenyeji! sijui ni tatizo la lugha ama vipi ila huo ni ukweli, istoshe wanapoa kwa kitu kidogo hata ukiwatoa kwa buku tano tu wanafurahi! Hali ya kiuchumi na kipato kidogo kinachangia moja kwa moja kwenye migogoro mingi ya kijamii kuanzia kuibiwa simu mtaa wakongo, kuchomolewa wallet kwenye daladala hadi wizi kama ule wa NMB, ila hili la wizi kama huu wa airport, vifurushi vya posta, na kadhalika linaendekezwa na usimamizi mbovu katika hizo idara husika. Haya mambo yaashiria serikali yetu inabeza majukumu yake sana, sio kama inashindwa kutatua matatizo makubwa tu bali hata kero ndogo ndogo. Hii tamaa ndio inatufikisha pabaya, ndio maana viongozi, wafanyabiashara na wengi wetu bado tu wanaendelea na ufasadi kila kukicha yani hawatosheki, sijui ni kutokana na ushandani au nini. Wengi tunaangalia alie juu yetu ana nini na mimi nile dili wapi nikipate, badala kuangalia wa chini ukashkuru, hii ndo hatima yake inapelekea mauwaji ya maalibino. Yani mtu kamaliza chuo mwaka huu kabahatika ajira anakwera na nyumba ya kupanga, anataka awe amejenga baada ya miaka miwili wakati mshahara wenyewe haueleweki, hube niambie atafanyaje kama hajahujumu.

Kwa kuongezea juu ya kubadilisha tabia na mitizamo, inabidi tupunguze tabia tegemezi kutoka kwa ndugu zetu hasa hawa wenye nyadhifa serikalini, pia akina mama nyumbani wawe na huruma kwa baba sio kila kukicha anadai vitu vipya baada ya kumuona navyo mke wa jirani. Kwanza sisi watanzania tuna advantage tunaweza angalau kuomba maji kwa kizungu na wengine wanaongea lugha za makabila yao in addition to kiswahili. Huku Canada, wanatumia english na french kuna jimbo la Quebec wanaongea french zaidi, hawa wengine wengi tu hawawezi hata kuomba maji kwa kifaransa sembuse lugha nyengine kama kispanish. Vilio Uwanja wa Ndege Dar

Nami nilivyokuwa Bongo 2006 na 2007 niliona mbinu huko Airport. Yaani wafanyakazi wengine hawana haya kabisa! Ni kama mradi vile kufanya kazi pale.

Pole kwa vacation na pia kwa kukosa ndege. Nipe nafasi kidogo niongelee wizi mdogo mdogo hatimae mkubwa katika Julius Nyerere International Airport maana inakera na inauma ile mbaya Ni kwamba kuna utaratibu kwenye viwanja vya ndege kuzuia abiria kubeba vichupa vyenye vimiminika zaidi ya ml100. Kwa hiyo inalazimu abiria kulazimisha kupima mzigo hata kama una 6kg ili mradi kusalimisha mafuta na vi-manukato kwa namna moja ama nyingine.

Kitu kilichojitokeza pale ni kwamba kampuni ya kupakia na kupakua mizigo ya Swiss port imeshindwa kudhibiti wafanyakazi wake na hivyo kupoteza hadhi ya kuchukua dhamana ya mizigo ya abiria. Nilichokiona mimi ni kwamba wale jamaa wanaobeba mizigo hufungua zipu na kukagua kilichomo ndani. Wakiona kitu cha thamani wanaweka mifukoni mwao.

Na kinachoumiza ni kwamba kama kuna vitu vilikuwa kwenye mifuko midogo ndani ya begi ambavyo labda ulitaka visigusane na vingine basi utavikuta tofauti, maana wanachana vimifuko ili kutafuta wanachokitafuta wao (WIZI MTUPU), ustaarabu hakuna hata kidogo.

Sasa nataka kuuliza kuna usalama gani kama mtuu amepima mzigo ili kufuata sheria za usalama wa usafiri wa anga na hatimae wajinga wachache wapitie vitu vya thamani kwenye mizigo yake? Kweli huwa mabegi yanafunguliwa tena wana utaalamu kuliko unavyodhani wanafungua zipu bila kuiharibu,na wanatoa vile wanavyovitaka wao kama Camera,Simu ,I-pod ,Laptop... na biashara kubwa ya kuviuza inafanyika huko NJIA PANDA sehemu ya kwenye Bar na Makazi ya watu....na huwa wanajisifu sana, na isitoshe ni kweli wana maisha mazuri sana LOADER AMA PORTER WA BONGO NI SAWA NA PORTER AMA LOADER WA ULAYA nikiwa namaana ya kwamba maisha yao yako juuu na ni matawi kuliko hata Maboss wao waliopo maofisini ,maana wao hupata Pesa kila aingiapo Shift.

Kulikuwa na utaratibu wa kuwapekua wakati wakitoka kazini,lakini sasa hakuna ila hata hivyo ni wajanja sana mara nyingine wanauza humu humu jengoni.na tunapata sana malalamiko mengi kutoka kwa wageni wetu watakao na kuingia nchini.Binafsi inaniuma sana maana ni juzi tu nilitumiwa na ndugu yangu mzigo wa Camera na wakailamba.
Na Juzi kuna wawili walijaribu kuiba mzigo wa mama mmoja Mmalawi waliushusha kwenye Air Malawi wakadai kuwa unaenda na Precision Air lakini Askari aliwashuku na kuwakamata sasa sijui kesi imeendaje.... WIZI WIZI WIZI KILA KONA......

Nini kwenye mabegi ya abiria, na wizi wa mafuta ya ndege je??? tena hiii ni issue sana kubwa maana hadi baadhi ya watu ambao hawastahili kuwepo wanashiriki kwenye hiii....jaribuni kufuatilia.
