WaTanzania 200 Wafungwa Hong Kong!

 Kutoka: http://www.v2catholic.com/johnw/2013/2013-07-21drug-mules.htm

 TANZANIAN DRUG MULES

Below is one drug mule story, the story of mules from Tanzania entering Hong Kong. Because of its location on the East coast of Africa, Tanzania is the favorite launching place for drug lords to mission their mules. The drugs they carry are mainly from Pakistan and Afghanistan....taken by boat to Tanzania ....meeting small boats along Tanzania's long coastline

In Hong Kong there are currently about 200 inmates from Tanzania. About 130 convicted and about 70 on remand (...unofficial figures..). In May-June 2013, some 50 Tanzanians were arrested in Hong Kong and China

Those convicted serve a minimum time of about 9 years if they plead guilty. They serve 21 years if they don't plead guilty (but drugs are found in their possession)

The story of these Tanzanian mules entering Hong Kong is typical of what happens around the world. Hopefully this story will be seen by many people in Africa, especially in Tanzania, and will discourage others from becoming mules. If this article stops even one person from being a mule, it is worthwhile

Here is the story, written in Swahili by a Hong Kong Tanzanian inmate, translated into English by another inmate. The story names and shames some very important people in Tanzania, including:

Iddi Azan, a leading politician who has his own blogspot, a Facebook account, and many other items when you put "iddi azzan" into www.google.com

Hong Kong Customs yesterday (July 25) detected three drug trafficking cases, with seizures totally valued at $4.78 million, in the department's escalated anti-narcotics efforts to combat drugs.

Customs officers at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) intercepted a 26-year-old incoming male passenger arriving from Tanzania for clearance yesterday afternoon and seized 1.6 kilogrammes of heroin concealed in two false compartments of his hand carry briefcase. The drugs would fetch a value of about $1.28 million.

Later in the evening, Customs officers at the HKIA intercepted another 45-year-old man from Tanzania for clearance. On suspicion of concealment of drugs inside his body, the suspect was escorted to hospital where he discharged 204 grammes of heroin after staying for one day. The value of the drugs was about $0.16 million. The suspect is still in the hospital.

In the same evening, Customs officers intercepted a 28-year-old man at a carpark in Tai Kok Tsui. Approximately 2.03 kg of cocaine camouflaged as snacks were found inside a plastic bag carried by him.

Customs officers later escorted the suspect to a domestic flat nearby for a search and seized 1 kg of cocaine and 290 grammes of crack cocaine there. The total value of the seizure was about $3.34 million.

A Customs spokesperson said today (July 26) that all three suspects in the three cases were arrested for drug trafficking. The cases are still under investigation.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.

Ukweli utajulikana.

REST IN PEACE JEFF RICE.

'Amazing Race' Producer's Death: Police Await Assistant's Recovery to Gain More Info

By BAZI KANANI and KEVIN DOLAK
Good Morning America –

....Investigators and family of the former "Amazing Race" producer Jeff Rice, who was found dead in a Uganda hotel room last Friday, are waiting to learn more about what might have killed him -- a cocaine overdose or suspected poisoning -- from his assistant, who remains in critical condition in a Kampala hospital.

Rice's body was found at the luxury Serena hotel in the capital city of Kampala. His assistant, Katheryne Fuller, was found unconscious.

"Ms. Fuller is slowly recovering, and when she is recovered enough we will be able to talk to her and find out more about what happened," Uganda Police Force spokesman Asuman Mugenyi said. "She is not able to speak. Although she is responding to the treatment, she is not yet available to explain what transpired."

Police say hotel staff noticed a man hanging on a balcony last Friday, and when they went to the room they found the 39-year-old's body on the balcony and Fuller unconscious in the room. Staff called police and rushed the two to a hospital, where Rice was declared dead, police said.

Investigators initially believed Rice and Fuller may have been sickened by some type of food poisoning. Later Mugenyi denied reports that Rice had been poisoned after he rebuffed a shakedown attempt from local "thugs," although friends remain skeptical.

"I was shocked. Jeff was someone who was terrific at his job," Josh Gates, a friend of Rice's told ABC News. "I don't know exactly what to think about what happened to Jeff. I hear conflicting reports coming out of the region."

Ugandan police said they have now ruled out poisoning and said further testing found high-levels of cocaine in Rice's system. Sources said Rice and Fuller were working on an investigative documentary, and many fear they might have been targeted by locals.

"For him to pass away so young so suddenly is alarming, obviously, but also is surprising because he was someone who was really able to take care of himself in the field. He was excellent at what he did," Gates added.

Rice was a veteran producer who worked on the latest season of the hit reality series "The Amazing Race" and the Emmy-nominated Animal Planet series "Whale Wars." In addition to raising two young kids, Rice and his wife, Sally Blackman, operated a television and film production company called SB Productions in Durban, South Africa.

Katheryne Fuller's father Stuart Fuller confirmed Rice were shooting a documentary, and other crew members who were with them should know more about what sickened them. Stuart Fuller said he is now with his daughter at the hospital in Kampala.

"She is OK. We are trying to get her back to South Africa. She needs medical attention that they can't do here," he said.

Waheshimiwa,

Naomba msaada wengu kwani kuficha haya maradhi sasa imefika mwisho, yanaumbua, wahenga walishaonya.

Ninajua mpo watu mtakaosema tulizembea kumlea ndugu yetu ama hatujui malezi, mtatushurutisha kuwa tumelikoroga basi na tulinywe, mimi nakubali yote, rusheni mawe, pigeni vijembe, malizeni matusi na kejeli zote, lakini ukweli unabakia pale pale, hili halinyweki!
Mimi ndiyo hivyo tena maji nshayavulia nguo, kuyaoga sina budi.

Ndiyo maana ninaomba ushauri kutoka kwenu.
