INFORMATION, Culture and Sports Minister Muhammed Seif Khatib is expected to grace the launching of a new film dubbed ‘Segito’ at the New World Cinema in Dar es Salaam today. The film is titled in Kihehe, which means ‘daughter’.
It tells the story of a successful young couple living in the city and the chaos into which their life was thrown when the husband discovered that his wife is in love with a disabled person. Film producer Janeth Mwenda Talawa said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the film reminds people not to exclude and disrespect persons with disabilities in the community.
“It is not a real story but it is a reality in our life. It reminds us not to discriminate people with disabilities because disability is not inability,” she said. Talawa further said that the film depicts how affection between the married couple was important in life.
She said representatives from the Disabled Organisation for Legal Affairs and Economic Development (Dolased) and representatives for the International Labour Organisation (ILO) would attend the ceremony. The film has ten characters.
The main character is Ndumbagwe Misayo, who acted as Teha, while others are a renowned Rihama Ally (Isabella), Aliko Shimwelu (William), Fello Idd, Mwasu Aloyce, Vincent Kigosi and Issa Musa.
