Sheikh Ponda ApIgwa Risasi Na Polisi Morogoro!

Sheikh Ponda Issa Ponda

Mda kama dakika 20 zilizopita  mjini Morogoro shehe Ponda amepigwa risasi na polisi .
Inasemekana pengine umauti umemkuta .

Tanzania: DPP Directs Arrest of Sheikh Ponda for Disobeying Order

Sheikh Ponda was in May, convicted of forcible entry into a plot by the Kisutu Resident Magistrate's Court in Dar es Salaam. He was given a oneyear suspended jail term and directed to refrain from taking part in incitement activities likely to lead to breach of the peace in the country.
Dr Feleshi noted that recent reports have it that the cleric is engaged in organising religious gatherings in Zanzibar, which threatened peace in the Isles. "Such a behaviour is intolerable," the DPP said in an interview with the 'Daily News' on Wednesday.
He added: "We hope the police will exercise their powers wisely to arrest Sheikh Ponda and take him to court for penal actions." Dr Feleshi said what Sheikh Ponda was currently doing was contrary to his sentence. "He was convicted of a similar offence, but was still conducting acts that threaten the public order and concord.
This is not acceptable. We cannot let one disobey court orders and go on unpunished," he said. Counsel for Sheikh Ponda Juma Nassoro was not reached for comment on the matter.
Reports from Zanzibar have it that police are tracing Sheikh Ponda's whereabouts. He is alleged to have called on the citizens to initiate strikes against the government. Zanzibar Commissioner of Police, Mussa Ali Mussa was reported to have said that Ponda's statements breached police directives to religious leaders to avoid giving messages which threaten the country's peace.
The police in the Isles arrested five persons who reportedly gave shelter to the controversial Muslim Sheikh. They were interrogated for hosting Ponda.
Sheikh Ponda, according to the police, had requested the believers to be ready to fight for their rights and stressed that they should soldier on.
Adjourning the Zanzibar House of Reps budget session for 2013/2014, the Second Vice-President, Amb. Seif Ali Iddi announced a ban for Sheikh Ponda to set his foot in the Isles for the purpose of inciting the people. Amb. Iddi warned that the government should not be blamed for serious measures that would take against leaders of such calibre

Kuna maswali mengi. Tuombe miujiza apatekane salama.

Rescue teams search for missing 'Hooch boater

ROSWELL, Ga. – A 32-year-old man is missing on the Chattahoochee River after he fell in Aug. 6 while rafting with friends.

Paul Buyoya Biswaldo, of an unknown address, was reported with a large group of friends rafting down the river from Azalea Park. Lt. James McGee of the Roswell Police Department said alcohol was involved.

"He was in the process of going from one raft to another raft when he lost his footing and fell in," McGee said.

His friends threw a life preserver to him but he never resurfaced. They returned to the boat dock to report him missing, about an hour after his disappeared.

Police, fire and rescue teams arrived to begin the search, about 5:15 p.m. and they searched until nightfall. Wednesday morning they picked up the search, however rain and fog limited their efforts.

McGee said the efforts were still considered "rescue" and not "recovery."

Rescue teams returned to the Chattahoochee River in Roswell Wednesday to search for a man last seen swimming Tuesday afternoon.
The man, whose name was released, was last seen around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, swimming from a boat in the area of Don White Park on Riverside Road, Roswell police said.
Investigators believe the man was attempting to go from one boat to another, but instead ended up in the water. Boaters attempted unsuccessfully to throw a life vest to the man, according to police.
Crews searched until dark Tuesday, and the Forsyth County dive team, along with state Department of Natural Resources, National Park Service and Roswell fire personnel resumed looking for the man Wednesday morning.
“The last known location where he was seen struggling was under the river bridge,” Roswell Deputy Fire Marshal Paul Piccirilli said Wednesday.
“We will begin where he was last seen, then, based on the water current and water levels, they will determine which direction to go from there,” Piccirilli told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We will stay out here until we find him or other information becomes available that we don’t need to do that any longer.”

Rwanda Sasa Yaruhusu Chama Mpinzani

Map of Rwanda
KIGALI, Rwanda (AP) - Rwandan President Paul Kagame's government has legalized an opposition political party that spent four years trying to get registered.

The Democratic Green Party, led by Frank Habineza, said late Friday it received a certificate of registration after years of attempts, during which time one of its vice presidents was murdered in 2010. It is not clear if the party will be able to participate in Sept. 16 parliamentary elections. The deadline for submissions is Monday. The party asked the National Electoral Commission to extend the deadline.
Oppo
"If not we will start preparing for the 2017 presidential polls," Habineza said. "But all in all, this is a very important step forward in the democratization process of Rwanda. The struggle to get the party registered has taken four years. The party was officially launched on 14th Aug. 2009, and the journey has been very tough."

Rwanda has several political parties, but most are loyal to Kagame's Rwanda Patriotic Front. Habineza's party is seen as a true opposition party.

Rwanda has received international praise for the economic progress it has made since its 1994 genocide. But it also receives international criticism for a lack of free political space. The country has yet to see a flourishing opposition party, and Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International warn that Kagame's government is increasingly becoming more intolerant of dissenting voices.

The recognition of the Rwandan Greens came a few days after the country's parliament passed a new law that will make it difficult for political parties in Rwanda to operate without depending on government funds. The new law, which is one of the many bills expedited by the current house as it wound up work ahead of the September polls, bars political parties from receiving external support from donors or friends outside Rwanda.

The Green Party and others like the unregistered Unified Democratic Forces, a party led by the jailed Victoire Ingabire, will no longer be allowed to take funds from outside the country.

"It's a tough law. It will be difficult for other parties to exist alongside Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) which has abundant resources," said Habineza, referring to the party of Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

Habineza said the new law will make it difficult for other parties to compete with RPF, which has held a firm grip on power for the last 19 years. Kagame's party also dominates the country's private sector and government tendering processes.

DAR ES SALAAM (Reuters) - Men riding a motorbike threw acid at two British teenage girls in Tanzania's semi-autonomous Zanzibar region, leaving them with facial, chest and back injuries, a senior police official said on Thursday.

The pair, both 18 and from England's northern city of Manchester according to police in the Indian Ocean archipelago, were flown to Tanzania's commercial capital Dar es Salaam.
They had been volunteering at a local school in Zanzibar, an island that is popular with international tourists but has suffered a wave of deadly protests last year as supporters of an Islamist group repeatedly clashed with the police.

Britain is concerned about Wednesday's attack and is "in contact with the Tanzanian authorities", the Foreign Office said in a statement.

The police described the attack as "an isolated incident", refusing to link it to rising religious tension on the island between majority Muslims and its Christian population.

"The attackers approached the girls as they were walking on a street at around 7:15 p.m. and threw acid at them," Zanzibar Urban West regional police commander Mkadam Khamis Mkadam told Reuters. "The incident occurred when the streets were deserted as most people were breaking their Ramadan fast."
Television images showed one girl obviously in pain in the back of a car at the Zanzibar airport.
"The victims sustained facial, chest and back injuries from the acid attack," Mkadam said.
The Britons were expected to fly home on Thursday.

The attack comes during the tourist season in the historic town and after a Zanzibar Muslim leader, Sheikh Fadhil Suleiman Soraga, was hospitalized with acid burns in a November attack.
Two Christian leaders were killed early this year in separate attacks.

A separatist group in Zanzibar, Uamsho (Awakening), is pushing for the archipelago to exit from its 1964 union with mainland Tanzania, which is ruled as a secular country. Uamsho wants to introduce Islamic Sharia law in Zanzibar.

Supporters of the group have engaged in running street battles with the police in the past, but authorities have not linked the group with the attacks on Christian clerics.

Mtoto Aliyefanya watu zaidi ya 1,000 Kuslimu!

5 year old Miraculous Tanzanian boy converts thousands of people to Islam

Sharif-uddin (or Sharif-iddin) Khalifa, is a miraculous boy, born in in Arusha, in the Northern part of Tanzania (a country in East Africa), in December 1993. Muslims are only a minority in Tanzania and Arabic language is not a native in Tanzania. His parents were Catholic Christians. Their native language is Swahili and they did not know Arabic.

When he was a little child, his parents (who were Christians) noticed that he was able to recite the whole Quran by heart, even though no body had ever taught him to do so.

At the age of two months, he refused to suckle his mother's milk.

At the age of four months, he started reciting verses from the Holy Quran.

By the time he was one-year old, he was able to recite the whole Quran and went on to be able to preach in Arabic, Swahili and French without any formal education.

It is reported that his first words were: "You people repent and you will be accepted by God" and he spoke these words in Arabic. His concerned parents initially thought he was possessed by demons and called Christian priests to pray for the baby.

Eventually, Muslim neighbors were able to interpret Sharif's alien speech. After his parents recognized that the significance of what their boy is saying and that he is miracle from God, his parents converted to Islam.

Furthermore, despite the fact that he is from Tanzania, he speaks Arabic fluently in addition to 4 other languages (English, French, Italian, and Swahili). He is able to pick up languages very fast, he once said: "I went to Congo and heard people speaking Lingala (the local language). I immediately was able to start speaking it."

Today, he delivers sermons and lectures in Africa and Europe that draw thousands of people to listen to him. Because of this boy, thousands of people have converted to Islam.

The following is an article about him that was published in a Scottish newspaper on Aug. 8,1999:

International Arrival Lounge Before the Fire - Unknown Tourist Photo

We can't believe our eyes!

Stranded Tourists

 Kutoka Yahoo News:

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) -- A massive fire destroyed the arrivals hall at Kenya's main international airport early Wednesday, forcing the closure of East Africa's largest airport and the rerouting of all inbound flights.
No injuries were reported, said Michael Kamau, the cabinet secretary for transport and infrastructure.
Dark black smoke that shot skyward was visible across much of Nairobi as emergency teams battled the blaze. Passengers reported a slow response by the under-resourced fire brigade, and the blaze raged for four hours before being contained.

The fire broke out on the 15th anniversary of the U.S. Embassy bombings in Nairobi and neighboring Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, but there were no immediate signs of terrorism. Kenya's anti-terror police boss, Boniface Mwaniki, told The Associated Press that he was waiting for the fire to be put out so that he could inspect the scene before making a judgment.

"It was huge, the smoke billowing, and it didn't seem to be stopping," said Barry Fisher, who had hoped to fly to Ethiopia on Wednesday morning.

The fire gutted the international arrivals hall, where passengers pass through immigration and retrieve their luggage. The Kenya Airports Authority closed Jomo Kenyatta International Airport until further notice.
Kamau said the fire began at 5 a.m. in the immigration section of the arrivals hall. Inbound flights were diverted to the coastal city of Mombasa.

As in many countries in East Africa, public sector services like police and fire units are hobbled by small budgets and outdated or no equipment. Many of the responding units to Wednesday's fire were from private security firms.

A British passenger, Martyn Collbeck, said he was surprised that the airport wasn't shut sooner so that emergency vehicles could respond.

"When I arrived there were one or two fire engines parked outside the international arrivals. It spread very fast," said Collbeck, who had been scheduled to fly back to London on an early morning KLM flight. "There were a couple of explosions which I think were a couple of gas canisters."

"I would have expected more fire engines to respond faster," he added.

There may not have been fire engines available to respond. The country's largest newspaper, The Daily Nation, reported last month that Nairobi County doesn't have a single working fire engine, and that three fire engines were auctioned off in 2009 because the county hadn't paid a $1,000 repair bill.

"It is a disgrace of biblical proportions that the entire Nairobi County does not have a public fire engine in working condition," the paper wrote in an editorial last month. "When (government leaders) were debating their budgets, they did not deem it fit to set aside money either to buy new ones or repair the old ones. But they did set aside money to build mansions for governors, (buy) big vehicles for county executives and other needs without a direct benefit to Kenyans."

The paper said the collapse of the fire department means responses to disasters is in the hands of private companies and the military.

The Nairobi airport is the busiest airport in East Africa, and its closure is likely to affect flights throughout the region.

Fisher, a trade specialist who lives in Nairobi, described the scene as chaotic.

"There was no one stopping any traffic going to the road to the airport," he said. "A number of fire trucks and ambulances were trying to negotiate their way through the lane. ... They were trying to weave their way through a solid two lanes of cars."

Kenyan Government Revokes Mining Licences

The Kenyan government has revoked all prospecting and mining licences granted during the first five months of this year after complaints about the issuing process.

The country's commissioner of mines, Moses Masibo, has been suspended. The Government has also raised royalties on minerals mined within its borders.

Kenya has proven deposits of titanium, gold and coal.

New deposits of minerals such as titanium, copper and niobium have recently been discovered that are thought to be worth billions of dollars.

Mining minister Najib Balala told a news conference the licences in question had been issued in a hurry and without transparency.

"We want to ensure the country gains from the mineral potential," he said.

"Any licence issued between 14 January and 15 May is hereby revoked immediately as we review each case to determine their nature and benefit to the country."

'Shrouded in secrecy'

Earlier this year, the mining secretary promised to review laws regulating the sector, which currently includes more than 300 local and foreign firms either searching for minerals or in small scale production.

BBC World Service's Africa editor, Richard Hamilton, said traditionally Kenya had not had a large mining sector.

But recent discoveries have encouraged a rush by local and international speculators.

U.S. Issues Global Travel Alert!

Kutoka:  http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Latest-News-Wires/2013/0802/U.S.-embassies-closed-Worldwide-travel-alert-based-on-terror-threat

The United States issued a global travel alert Friday, citing an al-Qaeda threat that also caused the State Department to close its embassies Sunday around the Muslim world.

The State Department warned American citizens of the potential for terrorism particularly in the Middle East and North Africa, with a possible attack occurring or coming from the Arabian Peninsula.

"Current information suggests that al-Qaeda and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks both in the region and beyond, and that they may focus efforts to conduct attacks in the period between now and the end of August," the statement said.

The alert asks American travelers to take extra precautions when traveling overseas and suggests they sign up for State Department alerts and register with consulates or embassies in the countries they are visiting.

The alert was posted a day after the US announced it would close diplomatic facilities on Sunday because of an unspecified threat. Spokeswoman Marie Harf said the department acted out of an "abundance of caution" and that some missions may stay closed for longer than a day. Sunday is a business day in Muslim countries.
