Call for Expressions of Interest

The International Music Council (IMC), an international non-governmental organization in formal associate relations with UNESCO, will organize 27th June – 3rd July 2009 (to be confirmed) in Dar es Salaam , Tanzania , a 6-day training session for music professionals from Tanzania and Uganda . The session is staged in partnership with the UNESCO offices in Dar es Salaam and Nairobi , the British Council Dar es Salaam and Management for Development Foundation (MDF) - Eastern and Southern Africa .

This activity is part of the UNESCO project “Creating capacities to securing international funding for creative industry projects: A music pilot training module in East Africa ” carried out in the framework of the UNESCO Global Alliance for Cultural Diversity. The project aims to develop capacities for music sector operators to access increasing international development aid funding, and sensitizing and involving government officials and decision makers in the donor community.

The International Music Council and UNESCO Dar es Salaam hereby invite expressions of interest in participation from music professionals in Tanzania and Uganda . We are looking for private persons as well as enterprises and associations.

Candidates should correspond to the following profile:
- Be currently working as creative entrepreneurs in the field of music (music and media, live music, music creation, music education, music infrastructure)
- have a concrete project or programme in the field of music as a creative industry
- have good knowledge of the sector in which they operate (music and media, live music, music creation, music education, music infrastructure)
- have at least 1 year of working experience in the music sector

The expressions of interest should relate to the requested profile and include the following: CV, a short outline of projects carried out (max. 1 page per project) and a 2–page outline of a future project for which funding is sought.

Once selected, trainees are expected to express their commitment to participation by signing a contract with the International Music Council.

Selected trainees will receive an allowance as well as per diem for non-covered meals and incidentals. IMC will cover travel and hotel for non-residents of Dar es Salaam and offer meals during the workshop for all participants.
